Enshrouded Amber Ore Location Guide: How to Find and Farm Amber Nodes Fast
You’ve just stepped into Revelwood, your Flame is glowing, your base looks decent, and then the game hits you with “bring me Amber.” You check the map, see nothing, and spend 40 minutes running around in the fog before dying in a red mist and losing half your backpack.
Been there. Painful.
I’ve sunk a stupid amount of time into hunting Amber, so this is the guide I wish I’d had on day one. It covers where the nodes are, what to bring, how to spot Amber in the blue haze, and a farming loop that makes the grind way less miserable.
Why Amber Matters (and Why It’s Such a Pain)
Amber is one of those resources that looks harmless until you realize every important recipe wants it. Mage and Healer armor need it. Better staff spells need it. Flame Altar upgrades want a fat stack of it. Even the fancy decorative stuff for your base eats it.
The annoying part is that Amber doesn’t sit in the open like copper or clay. It’s hidden inside the Shroud, in zones full of angry mobs and hazards. Show up unprepared and you’ll get deleted. Show up ready and it’s actually one of the more satisfying farms in the game.
Step Zero: Flame Level 3 or You’re Not Going Anywhere
This is the one rule you can’t skip: your Flame Altar must be at Level 3 minimum.
Most of the good Amber sits in Level 3 Shroud. If your Flame is lower, the fog turns bright red, a warning flashes, and you die in seconds. No mining, no loot, no fun. If you see red, turn around.
Here’s what to do:
- Go back to your base.
- Interact with the Flame Altar.
- Hit Strengthen the Flame and grab the required materials (Spark tokens from shrines, Shroud Cores, a few early boss trophies).
Once you’re at Level 3, the deadly red fog in Revelwood turns into normal blue Shroud. That gives you a few minutes of exploring and mining time before you have to bail or pop a consumable. Perfect.
What to Pack Before You Jump In
Don’t wing this. Mining Amber is about speed and escape routes, and the right kit makes a huge difference.
| Item | Why You Need It | My Take |
|---|---|---|
| Copper Pickaxe (or better) | Amber is tougher than dirt or clay | A Stone or Scrappy pick works but burns your Shroud timer. Don’t. |
| Spare Pickaxes (2–3) | Tools break mid-run | Nothing worse than a broken pick in a full vein. |
| Advanced Glider | Revelwood is all verticality | Better range, less stamina drain, precise landings. A must. |
| Grappling Hook | Climb cliffs, escape pits | Saved me from dumb deaths more than once. |
| Shroud Survival Flasks | Extend your time in the mist | Bring a stack, not one or two. |
| Stamina Food / Filters | Mining drains stamina fast | Quality-of-life, but you’ll feel the difference. |
Pro tip: carry at least two or three pickaxes on your action bar. Swapping instantly beats walking back to base in the fog.
Where to Find Amber: The Revelwood Hotspots
Amber lives in Revelwood, up in the northern and northwestern part of the map. Searching the southern desert or the eastern plains is a waste of time. Trust me, I checked, and I’m still a little bitter.
Everything starts from one landmark: the Revelwood Ancient Spire. Climb it, solve the puzzles, and you unlock a fast-travel point at the top. That’s your launchpad. From up there you can glide into valleys and spot the foggy pockets where Amber hides.
Here’s the quick overview before the details:
| Location | Direction From Spire | Difficulty | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deep Shroud Cavity | North | Medium | Big, steady yields |
| Cliff Face Ledges | South | Easy | Safe, low-stress runs |
| Eastern Mound & Rocks | East | Easy–Medium | Quick 40–50 Amber hauls |
| Northwest Outpost & Canyon | Far Northwest | Hard | Untouched stockpiles |
1. The Deep Shroud Cavity (North of the Spire)
This is my favorite spot for mid-game farming. Head straight north from the Spire and you’ll hit a huge canyon dropping into the Shroud. It sits between the Abandoned Hunter Camp (west) and the Hidden Hollow Tomb (east).
Glide down and look at the walls and big rock structures. Amber shows up as bright orange, clay-like veins with a smooth texture. In the middle of the trench there’s a giant rock pillar that is basically covered in Amber. Land your glider on the upper ledges, tunnel inward, and you’ll pull out dozens of pieces while the ground-level enemies wander around below you, totally clueless.
It’s honestly satisfying. Free loot, zero fighting.
2. The Cliff Face Ledges (South of the Spire)
Not feeling the deep fog? Go directly south from the Spire. Where the green forest grass meets the Shroud valley drop-off, there’s a big cliff wall packed with visible Amber clusters.
The best part is that it sits right on the edge of the Shroud. Mine for a bit, step back out of the blue mist, let your timer reset, and repeat. No consumables, no beacon runs, no stress. If you’re new to Amber farming, start here.
3. The Eastern Mound and Rocks
Glide east from the top of the Spire along the northern edge of the eastern valley. You’re looking for small mounds and pairs of big boulders near the valley floor.
The community-famous spot is next to a sharp bend in the old dirt road, not far from a local Flame Shrine. Find the two massive rocks overlooking a drop, jump down beneath them, and you’ll see a large, bulbous mound of earth with smooth orange veins running through it. Dig into the core and you can grab 40 to 50 Amber in one short session. Quick and cheap, and I love it for a fast top-up.
4. The Northwest Outpost and Canyon
This one’s for players who want a bigger payoff and don’t mind a trek. From the Spire, go north along the high mountain paths, clear the ridges, then head hard west into a narrow, winding canyon system.
At the end you’ll find a ruined mining outpost and deep caves wrapped in Shroud. Huge Amber pillars run from the cave floors to the ceilings. Great loot, but the area is crawling with level 13–15 Shroud mutants and insects. Clear them first. Don’t pull out the pickaxe while something is chewing on your face. Learn from my mistakes.
How to Spot Amber in the Fog
The Shroud paints everything in a blue haze, so ores can blend together. Here’s how I identify Amber without wasting swings:
- Don’t look for sparkles. Amber doesn’t glitter.
- Look for orange or reddish-orange patches with a smooth, glossy finish.
- It looks like hardened resin or orange clay poured into the cracks of grey, rough stone.
- Walk up close and check for the interaction prompt, or just take a test swing.
A real Amber hit gives you floating orange text and a distinct sound, more like breaking resin than dull dirt. Once you hear it, you’ll never mistake it again.
The Infinite Amber Farming Loop
Okay, this is the part everyone actually wants. Nodes don’t respawn quickly on their own, but there’s a loop that makes farming much faster by taking advantage of how the game resets resources.
The loop:
- Prep at base. Dump junk, free up backpack slots, equip your best pickaxe, and carry a spare.
- Fast travel to the Revelwood Ancient Spire.
- Glide to your chosen spot (the Deep Shroud Cavity pillar or the eastern mound are my picks).
- Mine everything. Don’t just scrape the surface. Amber veins run several meters deep, so tunnel in and hollow the thing out.
- Return safely to your base (or an unshrouded area) and dump your Amber in storage.
- Reset the world. If you’re in single-player or hosting your own co-op, exit to the title screen and reload your character.
Once you load back in, the resources and ore veins outside your Flame Altar building zones are restored. Fast travel back to the Spire, glide to the same spot, and the veins are full again. Rinse and repeat until your chests overflow. That’s the “infinite” part. Keep in mind this comes from community knowledge, so if a patch changes how resets work, your results may differ.
Playing on a dedicated server? Exiting to the menu won’t reset the world for everyone. You’ll need to wait for the normal respawn timer (roughly two full in-game days) or get the admin to restart the server. A little trick for public servers: build a small base with a Flame Altar just outside the Shroud line near your favorite spot. That way you can check on the nodes the moment they respawn, before other players snipe them.
What to Actually Do With All That Amber
Once your chests are stacked with orange goodness, here’s where it goes:
- The Alchemist is the main Amber guy. He uses it for the full Mage Armor and Healer Armor sets, which boost mana regeneration, magic damage, and healing. He also crafts stronger staff spells like Fireball II, which melts whole camps with area damage. If you’re running a caster build, this is your payoff.
- Flame Altar upgrades need a hefty pile of Amber to go from Level 3 to Level 4. That upgrade expands your build boundaries and lets you safely enter the tougher biomes further east. Think of Amber as your ticket to the next chapter of the game.
- The Carpenter turns Amber into luxury furniture, decorative thrones, and high-tier workstation tools. These improve your housing comfort, which stretches out your rested buff duration. If you love building a flashy base like I do, this is where Amber gets fun.

Final Thoughts
Amber looks like a nightmare resource at first, but once you know the routes it turns into one of the smoothest, most rewarding grinds in Enshrouded. My personal order of preference: start at the southern cliff face to get comfortable, graduate to the Deep Shroud Cavity for bulk farming, use the eastern mound for quick top-ups, and only hit the northwest outpost when you’re geared up and in the mood for a fight.
Get your Flame to Level 3, pack your pickaxes, grab your glider, and go print some orange. Your Alchemist is waiting, and so is that Level 4 upgrade.
See you in the Shroud. Try not to die.
