I’ve sunk an embarrassing number of hours into this series, from dogfighting on a PS2 CRT to staying up until 3 a.m. chasing S-ranks. So when Wings of Thieves promised full crossplay between Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, I cleared my weekend. I pictured a squad of mixed-platform friends in one lobby, missiles flying,…
I have been playing Ace Combat since the PS2 days, and I will say it upfront: I did not expect Co-Op Warfare to be the mode that eats my evenings. I came to Wings of Theve for the campaign, the Federation of Central Usea versus the Sotoan Republic, and the Unreal Engine 5 cloudscapes. I…
Okay, forum, sit down. I need to talk about this. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve came out on October 2, 2026, and I’ve been a walking cliché ever since: bloodshot eyes, cold coffee, and a sentence like “just one more sortie” that has been a lie for about nine hours straight. I’ve played this…
Alright, pilots, let’s talk about the thing that’s eating all our free time right now: the Ace Pass grind in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Quick context. The campaign is awesome. You’re an adrift pilot who picks up the legendary Wings of Theve callsign aboard the carrier Endurance, while the Federation of Central Usea…
You line up a perfect shot, the missile leaves the rail, the bandit explodes in a fireball, and your screen hiccups like a bad dial-up connection. Then the music crackles. Then it does it again on the next kill. If that’s your launch week with Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, take a breath. Your…
Let me say it straight: I love this series, and I wanted to love this launch. The dogfights, the soundtrack, the absurd and glorious melodrama of Strangereal. But if you’re sitting on an older rig, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is currently less “legendary ace” and more “student pilot with a failing engine.” The…
I have been waiting for this game for years. Years! I replayed Ace Combat 7 so many times that I can still hum the Zero mission theme without thinking. So when Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve finally landed, I took the day off, stocked up on snacks, and fired it up with the smug…
Okay, pilots, let’s talk. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is finally out, and the first thing half of us did was ask the same question: “Can I fly this on my Steam Deck?” Short answer: yes, the campaign is playable, but you’ll need to do some work first. Long answer: keep reading, because this…
I’ve been strapping myself into Strangereal cockpits since the PS1 days, so when Ace Combat 8 landed on October 1, I did what any sensible lunatic would do: I tried to cram it into a handheld. The Steam Deck, to be precise, both the LCD and the OLED. Short version: it works. Long version: it…
